A year or so before I received a phone call from Paul (asking if I was available and willing to photograph his and Janique’s wedding) I had the pleasure of meeting Paul when he was a groomsmen at Rob and Hannah’s wedding. We got on brilliantly and in the back of my mind I always thought that if this guy gets married that I would love to be the photographer. Well I was fortunate enough that Paul too was on that same wave length and fortunately I was available on their wedding date and well the rest is history.

My father in law lives in Rotorua and so there have been many visits to the Bay of Plenty but I had never ventured to Lake Tarawera. Because I was unfamiliar with this location I paid a visit a few days out from the wedding so I knew exactly what I was working with and where I wanted to take some photos. Even with my photography plan in mind I have learned over the years that you need to be really flexible and really at the end of the day you are guided by your clients and the available light that dictates where you place your clients.

Anyway needless to say it was an amazing day with beautiful people, fantastic weather, an amazing location and a very special day in deed. I was very privileged to be a part of your day Paul and Janique. Thank you 🙂

I love shooting at Markovina. It is definitely one of my favourite wedding venues out west and in Auckland. I love the fact you don’t have to travel anywhere because it has so many different location options all within the one property. So needless to say Gavin & Cherie’s special wedding day at Markovina was a really relaxed and enjoyable affair for everyone that was there to celebrate this special day. I had such a great day with you both and your wedding party. You were all on fine form and thanks for having me there to be a part of it all 🙂

I had my very first styled wedding shoot at Markovina. My friend Kim from http://www.takeavownz.com/ organized a number of vendors and friends to model for us. It was a bohemian styled shoot that evolved and developed as the shoot progressed. The weather was perfect and I enjoyed this chance to be as creative as I like without the normal time considerations that a wedding day entails. I hope you enjoy 🙂

Northridge Country Club  was the stunning setting for Kyal and Fionas wedding day. It was a blistering hot day in April but definitely no complaints on the day. The great thing about Northridge is that it is a one stop shop in that your ceremony, bridal location photos and reception can all take place at the one venue. There’s not too many wedding venues that can offer this. If you wanted to go off site then Orewa beach is only down the road. Hope you enjoy:)

The day started with Rebecca and the girls. They were super organized and ready when I arrived which is generally unexpected so it was a nice surprise and a great start. Having photographed John & Rebecca’s engagement session a couple of months prior I was super excited about capturing their wedding day and they were rock stars to say the least! Being a winter wedding (June) you never quite know what the weather gods have in store but it was to be a stunning winters day. Their ceremony and reception was held at Kumeu Valley Estate and what a beautiful venue. After the ceremony and family pics we headed for Woodhill forest where we captured some gorgeous images of everyone. We then sent the bridal party back to Kemeu Valley Estate and I took John & Rebecca to Murawai Beach as the sun set. What a magic moment that was. I’m quite certain we were the only people on the beach and it really was a time to reflect on what a wonderful day we had all had and experienced. Back to reception and I stayed on until the first dance which was best described as epic. Thank you both for including me in this special time of your lives:)
